I'd built a frame using the mainframe aluminium tube components, and netted around the pond with the Heron netting, then strung some fine cord across the top of the frame to discourage the Heron dropping down into the pond - it didn't, it just sploshed down regardless. It did have a struggle initially to get out again, but soon found out that a leap, then a flap was all that was required to escape with a fish or two. So, I covered the top with the heron mesh too, it doesn't obscure the view too much, but it hasn't been back since. I have a 'Trail Camera' set up so I know who visits the pond. A really effective product, and is probably the best defense without spoiling the enjoyment of the pond too much.I'm guessing if you have a visiting otter your going to need something stronger and smaller !
